Topic: O My Soul, Forget Not All the Blessings of the LORD!
Opening Prayer: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 31: 14 – 29

• Is there any warning for me to heed? • What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Moses’ death draws near, and God summons him and Joshua to the Tent of Meeting (v.14). God appeared before them in a pillar of cloud and revealed to Moses that Israel would give themselves over to idolatry. How sad for the people of Israel who have experienced the awesome power of the LORD to succumb to idolatry.
Note in v.20 the cause of this apostasy. It was not only the pagan influence around them but indeed their own prosperity that took away the dread of God and His judgments from them. We must be careful that as God prospers us, we do not relegate Him to the backyard thinking our hands have wrought our successes!
The laws of God were not only written on parchment and deposited in the inner court with the Ark, they were turned into songs to be learnt and sung regularly. Songs have a way of jostling our memory. We should devise various methods to make the teaching of the Bible interesting and easy to remember – songs, quizzes, dramas, puzzles, drawings and paintings, games, African moonlight stories, etc. Our proclamation of the word of God need not be boring and monotonous.

• Pray for wisdom for all who are proclaiming the word of God especially to children so they may have effective ministry. • Thank God in anticipation of the dawn of a productive and happy week.
