Scripture Union Daily Guide 11th April 2021 Sunday Message
TOPIC: Deliver me Oh Lord!
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, make me more like you through the power of your word as I meditate on it.
Scripture: Psalm 140:1 – 13
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow? • Is there any prayer for me to remember?
Wickedness and evil are on the increase in our society and we can trace this to the fallen nature of man. No wonder, David’s prayer in vs.1&4. Read vs.2-5 again and notice how he describes the wicked and their activities. What are some activities of the wicked going on in your community or nation which are similar to the ones in these verses? The psalmist used strong words in his prayer (vs.6-11). He poured out his heart to God who alone can deliver him. The prayer of the psalmist is still valid today. The activities of evil men can really be painful, especially if the perpetrator is someone close. We need God’s intervention to deliver us from satanic activities of wicked people and be able to love them despite their wicked actions. Are you experiencing attacks like those of David in your place of work, family or church? Know that God is on your side and He will deliver you (v.12). You, however, need to trust and be faithful to Him (v.13).
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Dear Lord, you are my deliverer. I trust in you. Please deliver me from the activities of the wicked and protect me always. • Pray that the lesson of the cross which is sacrificial giving of self, will help you to offer sacrificial service.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with
• Lev. 15-16; Heb. 11:20-40
