Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 11 January 2022 | SU Devotional | Outline
David felt no shame to be very transparent in his relationship with God knowing that He loves and cares for him. There is no need to hide his condition from the all‐knowing God. He was in a dire situation which threatened his patience. He felt forsaken by God.
In what ways do we also experience similar struggles? Instead of crying out to God, do we withdraw into ourselves and wrestle with our thoughts? This often leads us to a dead end with the attendant result as indicated in v.2b. We rather increase our burden.
David however did not prolong his state of disorientation. He reminded himself of God’s character. God has bound Himself to His people with a covenant love. Even though the problem has not necessarily been resolved, notice the effect this change of direction had on David (vs.5b‐6, compare v.2b).
Practice/Word Application
So what? Sing this chorus and be encouraged: God is still on the throne, and He will remember His own. Though trials may press us and burdens distress us, He never will leave us alone. God is still on the throne, He never forsaketh His own. His promise is true, He will not forget you. God is still on the throne.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Dear Lord, help me to always remember that you are with me even when everything suggests the opposite.

PRAYER FOCUS
TRUE REPRESENTATION OF CHRIST
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes… Romans 1:16
THANK GOD FOR:
› Making us the righteousness of God in Him. › The opportunity we have been given to be ambassadors of Christ.
PRAY FOR:
• Grace to be diligent as we daily present ourselves as workmen/women who will not bring shame to the name of Christ. • Faith to continue to live the crucified lives and not give any occasion to the flesh. • The help of God in our lives as we remain ambassadors of peace wherever we go.
PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Anything that will make us imitate the world and not the Christ whose name we bear. ∷ All forms of immoral acts, impurity or covetousness as they will defile and destroy all we are working for.
