Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, may the entrance of your word bring light and life to all I will do today.
Scripture: Proverbs 24:15-34
Question(s) for Reflection
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
We are all prone to falling, not once but seven (many) times. Thank God for the grace of our Lord which delivers and upholds us whenever we come to Him for His help (v.16). And when we recognise it is by His grace, we learn never to rejoice when others fall even when we know they are our enemies (vs.17-18).
We do not wish them evil but can relate with them with grace knowing that Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us (Luke 6:27). “Let God fight the battle. Just hold your peace” (Yoruba song, cf. Romans 12:19-21). Notice the call for justice and fair play as we relate to people (v.24).
How do we as Christians respond to the injustices in our society? Do we participate in little ways by applauding the wicked and making them feel good because of their generosity to us or to the church? The poet warns us to guard against deception in any form. How do you relate the wicked and blood thirsty Political Leadership in your Country?
We are finally encouraged to work hard to avoid poverty’s clutches. Laziness shows out in many forms. Examine your surroundings in your home and office or school. Do they reflect marks of laziness (vs.30-32)? See the end result in vs.33-34.

• Lord, grant the grace to rise each time I fall. • Pray for Missionaries witnessing for Christ in their various mission fields: some fields are fiercely hostile, due to war, religion or political creed.
