Bible Text
Luke 7:24-35
Meditation Question
►Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
►Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
Tribute is an act, statement, or gift that is intended to show gratitude, respect, or admiration. In today’s passage, Jesus pours glowing tributes on John the Baptist (Luke 7:27-28). How often do we appreciate others who have played significant roles in our lives?
Why does Jesus describe John as the greatest of all the Prophets (Luke 7:28a)? John was the last in the long line of prophets who proclaimed Christ’s coming, yet he was the only one who actually saw Christ in the flesh, unlike Moses, Isaiah, and the other prophets. What does Luke 7:28 say about you? Unlike John, we are on the victory side of the cross. How we should appreciate the precious and gracious position we have in the kingdom of God. We cannot take this for granted.
Read Luke 7:30-35 and notice how Jesus addressed the way people are determined to reject God’s message regardless of how it was sent to them. Many today go from one church to another, attend crusades and conventions, but remain unresponsive to the word of God. Where and how is not the issue, but response in faith to God’s word.

O HAPPY DAY, THAT FIXED MY CHOICE
1. O happy day, that fixed my choice
On Thee, my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
And tell its raptures all abroad.
Refrain
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray,
And live rejoicing every day
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away.
2. O happy bond, that seals my vows
To Him who merits all my love!
Let cheerful anthems fill His house,
While to that sacred shrine I move.
3. ’Tis done: the great transaction’s done:
I am the Lord’s and He is mine;
He drew me, and I followed on;
Charmed to confess the voice divine.
4. Now rest my long divided heart,
Fixed on this blissful center, rest;
With ashes who would grudge to part
When called on angels’ bread to feast?
5. High Heaven, that heard the solemn vow,
That vow renewed shall daily hear,
Till in life’s latest hour I bow
And bless in death a bond so dear.

Thank God for the privilege we have in Christ Jesus as believers and pray for those who have not yet met with Christ, that their hearts will be receptive to the gospel.
