Rod Parsley Devotional 5th January 2025, Sunday Message
TOPIC: The Fruit of the Spirit
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
– Galatians 5:22-23
What does the Bible mean by the fruit of the Spirit? In the natural realm, fruit is a by-product of the growth of the tree. When a tree produces fruit, it is evidence that a natural phenomenon is at work, and that the tree is “yielding fruit
after his kind” (Genesis 1:11).

It’s similar in the supernatural realm. If you are a born-again believer, the fruit of the Spirit is evidence of spiritual growth and maturity, and that a supernatural phenomenon is at work in you—the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! You cannot produce these qualities on your own—they can only be produced after you have accepted Jesus into your life, and seek God daily to receive power from on high!
The fruit of the Spirit is God’s character. We receive the fruit of the Spirit when we accept Christ as the Lord of our lives, allow the Holy Spirit to mold us, and teach us how to have God’s qualities. It is then, we must activate these qualities to see them functioning in our daily lives. These are attributes of God that we are called to emulate, just as 3 John 1:11 says: “Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.”
Lord Jesus, Help me to become more and more like you each and every day. I want to get to know you so that I can produce your goodness, kindness, gentleness, love, joy, faithfulness, peace, patience, faithfulness, and self-control. I want to be known for my good fruit. Fill me with you until there is no more of me.
