TOPIC: The Power to Get Wealth
But you must remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today.
– Deuteronomy 8:18
Very few enjoy overwhelming wealth that gives us the ability to give on every occasion, exceedingly and abundantly, to help the poor, feed the hungry, help the homeless or extend help in a disaster. The problem is the wealth is in the wrong hands. Unfortunately, much of the wealth in the world is hoarded and used for selfish and ungodly purposes. The wealth God provides is for building His kingdom spiritually and physically. We cannot hoard wealth and then allow the poor to suffer and God’s kingdom to be neglected.

For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? God gives us the power to get wealth so that we can establish His covenant of love.
Holy Spirit, convict me and help me put my faith in action.
