TOPIC: Jehovah Shalom My Peace
SCRIPTURE READING
Then Gideon built an altar for the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace. Even to this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. – Judges 6:24
Gideon was a young man living in a time when the Midianites oppressed his people. When the angel of the Lord appeared to him and called him a mighty man of valor, he retorted, “Are you talking to me?” He did not see himself the way God saw him. In his own eyes, he was from the weakest tribe and the runt of the litter. However, to the Lord, he was a mighty man. Facing such a momentous task, He soon discovered that Jehovah Shalom, the Lord of Peace, was with him.
Jesus’ parting gift before His death was His peace (John 14:27). When you are filled with His Spirit, then His peace creates a sense of wellbeing and wholeness in spite of what is going on around you. This kind of peace is produced only by a supernatural knowledge, a revelation of God on a different level than perhaps you have ever known Him before.
Lord, I praise You that You are my Peace, my calm, restful assurance.
