TOPIC: The Gift of Serving Others
We have diverse gifts according to the grace that is given to us…if service, in serving…
– Romans 12:6-7
The gift of serving others is needed in the body of Christ. Jesus Himself was and is a servant. “…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

The Holy Spirit manifests abundant grace in those who serve. If it were not for this gift, there would be no practical daily ministry to the body of Christ.
In Acts 6:3 the qualifications of a servant are that they be full of the Holy Spirit and full of wisdom. So, these were not just people who waited tables. These were true servants of the Most High God who ministered to the body of Christ daily.
In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), Jesus explains that of the three men entrusted with the talents, only two received approval. Their master’s commendation to both was, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” It’s not position, fame or fortune that receives God’s approval; it is the act of serving. My wife, Joni, always says, “We are at our best when we are serving.”
Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of serving; I want to be like Jesus.
