Rod Parsley Devotional 13th February 2025 Thursday Message
TOPIC: Doubt is not unbelief
Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
– Mark 9:24
There is a distinct difference between doubt and unbelief. That difference can mean the difference between answered and unanswered prayer.
Doubt is when you wonder “if ” something could be, while unbelief is declaration that “I know it’s not” or “It can’t be.” When Jesus went to His hometown to preach, He desired to perform miracles and to do great wonders, but He could not.
The people had a spirit of unbelief and that prevented Him from doing “mighty works” (Mark 6:5-6).
The passage in Mark tells us that He was only able to lay hands on a few sick and heal them. Mark 6:5 tells us that healing the sick was not the “mighty works” Christ wanted to do—but He was blocked from doing the “big stuff.”
Verse 6 tells us that He marveled at their unbelief. I believe He does the same when we choose to walk in unbelief rather than believing in our God.
If you have doubt, ask Jesus to help you. If you have unbelief, you need to bind up that spirit, and replace it with confidence and faith in God.
If there is any area of my life where I doubt you please help me overcome it. I know nothing is impossible for you Jesus and I choose to believe you and in you. I don’t ever want doubt and unbelief to cause you not to do great things in my life. Have your way. Amen.
