TOPIC: You Are Never Forsaken
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
– Matthew 27:46
When translated from the original text, the word forsaken includes such words as: what habitation, make plenteous, covenant, rejected refuse, pull up, loosen, draw, leave, rescue, restore, build, recollect the Rock.

The traditional translation is interpreted as: “Why have you rejected and left me?” Jesus’ words take on a different meaning when using other words from the translation: “What plenteous habitation from the covenant. Rejected refuse [Jesus on the cross] will be pulled up, loosened [from the Earth], drawn [to the Father], leave [this world], will rescue, restore, and build. The Rock will be recollected.
I believe Jesus spoke words of victory. He moved from horrific crucifixion to triumph with words of conquest, not despair. He was and is a Warrior, not a victim. I believe He was telling His Father, “I am ready for the next leg of this journey. It is finished!”
Jesus, You were, are and will forever be a victorious Warrior!
PRAYER: Thy word, O Lord, I hide in my heart. Root and establish me in thy word that I might prosper and bear good fruit for thy Kingdom. Amen.
