TOPIC: Jehovah Shammah Is Present
After him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered into a troop, where the plot of the field was full of lentils, and the people fled before the Philistines. He took his stand in the midst of the plot of land, defended it, and defeated the Philistines. The LORD brought about a great victory.
– 2 Samuel 23:11-12
Shammah was an Israelite farmer who diligently tended the crops of his field. But every year at harvest time, the enemy showed up to steal his produce. This year, Shammah decided he would defend his property from the pillaging Philistines. The Philistines asked him who he thought he was. He took a step forward and shouted with a voice that reverberated off the mountains, “I am Shammah!”

Jehovah Shammah means the Lord is there, personally present. When Shammah announced his name, he was not telling his enemies who he was. He was telling them that the Lord of Hosts, the God of battles, had come to defend his field. Instead of shrinking from the conflict, we should run to the fight because God is with us. The Lord has anointed you to win.
Praise God, for He is Jehovah Shammah! I am never alone.
