TOPIC: The Gift of Generosity
Command those who are rich in this world that they not be conceited, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy. Command that they do good, that they be rich in good works, generous, willing to share, and laying up in store for themselves a good foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of eternal life.
– 1 Timothy 6:17-19
In Acts 20:35, Paul says it is more blessed to give than to receive. If you have ever watched the face of someone you have been able to bless, you know this to be true. Whether with material resources or spiritually, being able to bless another person is a gift from God.

Paul said we must help the weak, and God blesses us to be a blessing. There are those that He blesses with exceedingly abundant resources so that they can be distributors of God’s goodness and grace. We are not given wealth to heap it on ourselves. In the parable of Luke 12:16-21, Jesus admonished the man who, instead of distributing the resources God gave him, wanted to tear down his storehouses and build bigger ones to store more for himself. Let the goodness of God flow not just to you, but through you.
I repent of selfishness; Holy Spirit, release Your gift of generosity through me.
