TOPIC: A Day with Joni ~ How Long?
O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear?
– Habakkuk 1:2
“How long?” Have you ever prayed that prayer? Have you wept as you’ve cried out to God? Have you ever felt as though He’s not hearing you? This prayer of Habakkuk reveals his heart in all honesty. And there are times in my life when I can totally relate. In times like these we need to be reminded that God never sleeps. He is never idle, absent, ignorant, ambivalent, or insensitive to what we’re going through. His purposes, though perfect, are often beyond our ability to see or understand. But they are glorious.

Nobody understood the cross when Jesus died. Yet in that dark hour, the greatest gift was given; the greatest love displayed. God answers Habakkuk’s prayer a couple verses later. He says, “Look among the nations and watch; wonder and be amazed! For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe, though it were told you” (1:5).
What is God doing in the midst of your suffering? You probably wouldn’t believe it if He told you.
O Lord, hear my prayer. You know I long for answers, clarity, understanding. But You also know what I need, what I can handle, and what’s best. Help me to trust You with whatever this is. I know You’ve got it. Amen.
