TOPIC: Better Promises, Better Blood
Through this oath Jesus became the guarantor of a better covenant.
– Hebrews 7:22
Jesus was the ultimate Sacrifice. When He shed His blood on the cross – as the veins of God Himself were emptied – at that moment, Jesus, the God-man acting on behalf of humanity, entered into a far superior covenant with the Almighty than had existed before.
God made a covenant of grace. It was no longer a covenant born of ritual necessary for the ongoing shedding of innocent animals’ blood. It was a covenant born of relationship and faith whereby Jesus became the Guarantee of a better way and where His guiltless blood was shed only once for the total removal of sins.
This is the great exchange. In covenant with us, we exchange our death for Jesus’ life; disease for His healing; poverty for His wealth; weakness for His strength; bondage for His freedom. Choose Jesus, the Guarantee of this Better Covenant, and receive a reprieve from God’s judgment – or reject Jesus and suffer eternal separation from His love. Choose Jesus!
I thank You, God, for Your covenant guaranteed through the shed blood of Jesus.
