TOPIC: A Day with Joni ~ Gossip? Don’t Do It.
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
– Proverbs 26:22 (KJV)
I offer this as food for thought today because the Bible is filled with verses on taming the tongue and using our words to speak life and not death. There is enough negativity in the world, and as Christians we need to be using our words wisely.

We are a light in a dark place. The world needs our example, but first we have to stop hurting each other. Our words should reflect the character of the One we claim to serve; He heals and loves and forgives. His words to us are laced with tenderness and mercy because we are His beloved.
Just think of how He feels when we hurt someone He loves, and we use our words as the weapon to do so.
Father, forgive me. I have used my words to hurt others. I have entertained, and even furthered gossip. You call me to a higher love. Please help me to measure what I say against that higher standard. And may my words be healing instead of hurting; life-giving! Amen.
