This is His plan. We are to cultivate God’s nature in us. He is to become more prominent; we must grow less so.
How do you become like someone? An actor studies a person, spends time with that person, and works at developing and adopting his or her mannerisms and behaviors in order to capture that persona for their audience.
That’s not a bad metaphor. We want to develop and adopt our God’s persona. We need to spend time with and study Him to grow in His likeness. And, make no mistake, the watching world is our audience. They want to see God.
His will more evident; my self-will shrinking. His love growing; my selfishness diminishing. His mercy, grace, forgiveness and hope embodied before their eyes – Imagine if we bore such a strong resemblance to our Father the world could see Him in and through us!
Almighty God, I am thankful You created me in Your image. I want to more clearly and strongly bear Your likeness, Your character, Your heart. Will You draw me closer? Impress more of You upon me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
