TOPIC: Provoking Divine Favour (4)

DAILY BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 10-12

TEXT: “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days if Abraham, and Isaac went into Abimelech king of the philistines unto Garer, and the LORD appear unto him and said go not down into Egypt dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee..” – Genesis 26 :1 – 3.

As expressed in our anchor text, God told Isaac in Genesis 26 :1 – 6; not to go down into Egypt but to remain in the land of Garer, and He asked him to sow there and assured him of His presence and blessing in that location. Isaac obedience to God’s command in abiding where God ask him to, made him become very great. The same year he sowed even in the midst of famine and he reaped a hundredfold. He became an envy because of the divine favour (Genesis 26 :12 – 14).

When you are rightly located. Your life becomes open to God’s favour but when in a wrong location, one is disconnected from flow of favour from above. That was what happened to Naomi in Ruth chapter one, when she departed from Bethlehem, the house of bread to Moab, an enemy country because of temporary scarcity and lost her husband and her two sons. She went out full but return empty. The wrong location swallowed up favour from her life.

The wicked in a location affect the place. Psalm 107 :33 – 34; says “He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the water springs into dry ground; vs 24. A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

I pray for you today, may you never be manipulated out of God’s location for you, in Jesus Name.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, plant my feet in the right location of favour.
