Rhema For Living 23rd January 2023 MESSAGE
Living like Jesus means walking in compassion. If there is an amazing quality that stood Jesus out all His days on earth as a man, it is His overwhelming compassion. All through scripture one quality repeatedly stated about Him which made Him affect all that encountered him was His compassion.
On the scenario of our anchor text, He (Jesus) was justified to send the multitude away because they were in the wilderness and there was nowhere to buy such quantities of bread to take care of the multitude (Matt. 15 :33). More so, He had met their other needs which made them come to Him despite they were great multitude.
Scripture reports, “And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: Matthew15 :30 – 31. But notwithstanding, His compassion would not let Him allow them go hungry and he asked, “How many loaves have ye? And they said seven, and a few little fishes” (vs 34).
With that He fed the whole multitude and seven baskets were left full. His compassion multiplied the little into much (vs. 35 – 37), just as he had earlier done with five loaves and two fishes which fed 5,000 men besides women and children and 12 baskets were leftovers. (Matt.14 :14 – 21).
Child of God, we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities… (Heb. 4 :15).
On earth as a man He was that compassionate and even laid down His life for us, and still does so even now in glory where He sits in majesty overseeing us as His own.
As children of His with His Spirit in us, He expects us to live like Him by compassion.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! Thank you Lord for your compassion. Help me to be compassionate
