SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 4: 1-7
1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
FOCUS: “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.” (2 Kings 4: 1)
Pastor Jerry Eze Streams of Joy Devotional 4th March 2021 MESSAGE:
The woman in our Focal Scripture was married to one of the sons of the prophets who served under Elisha. That man died without dealing with the debt he owed; he also didn’t appear to meet Elisha for intervention. The creditor would have taken his sons to be bondmen, but his wife reached out to Elisha and the hand of negativity was turned back. His wife confronted the negativity that was about to swallow the family, and it was halted.
Friend, you may have inherited the negativity that others left behind, you may be caught in the midst of cycles that you did not begin, but God says, break the chains of negativity around you. Prayerfully interrupt the free course and free advancement of Satan in your family, health, marriage, business, community, city, nation, etc. Crush every token of evil you see around you. Cut short the reign of evil and negativity around you.
A man that served God under Elisha should have known enough to stop his family from being victims; but that man died, and left his wife to deal. Today, receive the grace to confront every inherited negativity. Receive the grace to pull down the altars of Satan that are still thriving around you. Receive the grace to crush the head of every leviathan within your space. Receive the grace to interrupt every plot of the enemy around you.
That widow could have lost her sons if she did nothing. If you do nothing to halt the hands of the enemy around you, you just might become a victim sooner than later. If you let the enemy continue his reign of evil and terror around you, he may come for what is important to you. You may not have been the one that invited the enemy into your home, marriage, ministry, etc, but do all within your powers to send him packing.
You are of that breed that does not give the gates of hell opportunities to thrive. Crush the negativity around you. Break the cycle of evil around you.
Ephesians 4: 27 says: “Neither give place to the devil.”
Declare With Me: I break every negative cycle around me, in Jesus’ name!
