Our Daily Bread Teens 30th December 2021 Devotional Message

Lauren was nervous and excited as she hopped into a one-person kayak for her first go at white-water rafting. After strapping herself in, she headed down the river with a group of friends and guides.

Lauren became even more nervous when she saw the waterfalls ahead. Suddenly, as the kayak tossed and turned in the white water, it flipped over. She had been told how to get out quickly if this happened. But she lost her bearings as she hung upside-down in the water; she couldn’t find the button to release the straps around her. She knew she couldn’t hold her breath much longer. But help came just in time and she was saved! Lauren was relieved and thankful as she was pulled out of the water.

An even better rescue has been given to us—our rescue from judgement and hell has come in the Person of Jesus Christ. While we were drowning in sin, God sent His Son Jesus to give us new life through His own death and resurrection (Rom. 5:8; Eph. 2:5). He did so because He is “rich in mercy” and because of His “great love” (Eph. 2:4).
Out of thankfulness, we can help our friends by telling them about the Rescuer they need.

REFLECT: ONCE WE’VE BEEN RESCUED, WE SHOULD BE READY TO HELP RESCUE OTHERS.
