Being good to people is one of God’s commandments that not many people obey without ulterior motives. While some people help others only when it is convenient for them, others help with the intention of getting something in return. Some Christians also only help others when they are in a good mood. This is not how Christ showed us to love.
The Bible says that we should love others and always do good to people, whether it is reciprocated or not. I am always surprised when I hear a Christian say, “Love is reciprocal; if you do not love me, I will not love you.” Is that in your Bible?
My Bible tells me to love my neighbour as myself. This means that if I love to eat good food, then I should try to ensure that my neighbour eats good food also. If I love to wear beautiful dresses, I should also try to ensure that my neighbour wears the same. You should do good to everyone who comes in contact with you, regardless of their race, religion, or social status. Remember that the little boy in Matthew 14:17-19 had a lunch that consisted of only five loaves of bread and two small fishes, yet it fed over 5,000 people. Imitate him and do good with your little resources.

HYMN 44
DEEPER, DEEPER IN THE LOVE OF JESUS
1 Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
daily let me go;
higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
more of grace to know.
Refrain:
O deeper yet, I pray,
and higher ev’ry day,
and wiser, blessed Lord,
in Thy precious, holy Word.
2 Deeper, deeper! Blessed Holy Spirit,
take me deeper still,
till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
and His perfect will. [Refrain]
3 Deeper, deeper! Though it cost hard trials,
deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
let me fruitful grow. [Refrain]
4 Deeper, higher, ev’ry day in Jesus,
till all conflict past
finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last. [Refrain]
