Open Heaven For Teens 18th July 2025 Daily Devotional Message By Pastor E.A Adeboye And Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye

TOPIC: Care for Your Brother

MEMORISE
But why dost thou judge thy brother? Or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. – Romans 14:10

BIBLE READING
Genesis 37:13-30

13 And Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers pasturing the flock at Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” And he said to him, “Here I am.” 14 So he said to him, “Go now, see if it is well with your brothers and with the flock, and bring me word.” So he sent him from the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. 15 And a man found him wandering in the fields. And the man asked him, “What are you seeking?” 16 “I am seeking my brothers,” he said. “Tell me, please, where they are pasturing the flock.” 17 And the man said, “They have gone away, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan.

18 They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him. 19 They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. 20 Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits.[a] Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.” 21 But when Reuben heard it, he rescued him out of their hands, saying, “Let us not take his life.” 22 And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood; throw him into this pit here in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him”—that he might rescue him out of their hand to restore him to his father. 23 So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore. 24 And they took him and threw him into a pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it.

25 Then they sat down to eat. And looking up they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing gum, balm, and myrrh, on their way to carry it down to Egypt. 26 Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? 27 Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him. 28 Then Midianite traders passed by. And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels[b] of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.

29 When Reuben returned to the pit and saw that Joseph was not in the pit, he tore his clothes 30 and returned to his brothers and said, “The boy is gone, and I, where shall I go?”

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE;

Today’s Bible reading tells us that not long after Joseph told his family members about his second dream, he went into the field to give food to his siblings based on his father’s instructions. When they saw him coming from afar, they planned to kill him but later changed their minds and sold him into slavery.

Today, a lot of siblings are harming one another by their attitude towards each other. God expects us to be our brother’s keeper. Your siblings, cousins, and relatives, particularly the ones who are younger, should be able to look up to you and should feel safe with you. For instance, if your siblings cannot confide in you when they have personal issues, you should check your attitude and behaviour. Joseph’s brothers hated him because of his dreams; don’t hate your siblings because you feel they are more intelligent than you are or your parents like them more than you. There is no good reason for you to hate a sibling as a child of God. Envy leads to nothing good. Remember that Cain killed Abel, his brother, because he envied him.

My dear child, treat your siblings kindly, talk with them frequently, be closely knit with them, correct them in love, and tell them about Christ if they have not given their hearts to Him.

KEY POINT
Care for your siblings and treat them kindly.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
1 Chronicles 26:12-27:34 Romans 4:13-5:5

HYMN 27
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge–
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.
