SCRIPTURE READING
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any [a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our [b]consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

Sadness sometimes feels like carrying a backpack full of heavy rocks; it can be tiring, painful, and overwhelming. The good news, however, is that Jesus is ever-present to lift the weight of sadness from His children. As a child of God, you don’t have to go through life alone or pretend to be okay when you’re not. Instead, lean on Jesus, and He will give you rest, as today’s memory verse tells us.
Many teenagers struggle to trust adults, whether it be their parents or teachers, and would rather confide in their peers when they are sad. Unfortunately, some of them receive wrong counsel and cultivate harmful habits like substance abuse, gambling, et cetera.
My dear child, if the above scenario describes your current situation, I want you to know that Jesus loves you deeply and wants to fill your heart with joy. Please pause right now, and lay your burdens at His feet. Tell Him you’re sorry for taking the wrong path. Furthermore, seek help from a godly counsellor, your Sunday school teacher, or your pastor. They can guide you on how to walk in victory and experience the abundant life that God has planned for you. I pray that the Almighty God will remove anything that may be causing sadness in your life, in Jesus’ name.
Action Point
If you’re feeling sad, don’t let it persist; seek help today.
