The Heart of Man

BIBLE READING: Numbers 33-36
TEXT: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4 :23
MESSAGE: The ruling center of the whole person is the heart. The heart is the spring of all desires. The heart 9f man is reflects man. The heart is the place where emotions and desires begins.
Matthew 7 :15; ‘There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man’.
The heart of a man defines who he/she is. Your real identity is known from within you. And God relates with us from the heart. 1 Samuel 16 :7; ‘But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on ‘his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart’. God is not interested in your acts or activities but your heart. “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. “Matthew 15 :8.
The heart of man is either the temple of God or a habitation of Satan. Appearance does not explain how one is. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jer. 17 :9 – 10.
It is the centre of oneself, the very core of a person.
God rejected Saul and choose David because of David’s heart. He said in Acts 13 :22,; “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.” God continually remembered the house of David because of how David served God with his heart.
Child of God, your heart matters a great deal if you will matter to God. Work on your heart that it will be right before God. May the Lord grant you Grace to do that.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, the grace to serve you from my heart fall on me.
