All the Way to Calvary

Today’s Scripture: Rev. 1 – 3.

TEXT: And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one one on the right hand, and the other on the left. – Luke 23 :33.

What a love displayed! Many claim to love, but only say so while their deeds are contrary to their confessions. But God revealed His inestimable and sacrificial love for us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3 :16).

And Jesus, in obedience to the will of the Father for our sake, went all the way to Calvary, a journey so humiliating, they beat him, bruised Him, spat at Him, mocked Him, called Him all sorts of names and He took them all, determined to get to Calvary. “He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth” (Isaiah 53 :7).

Jesus took so much just to demonstrate the love of the Father towards us. And at Calvary, He gave up His life in exchange for ours. He came that we might have life and we might have it more abundantly (John 10 :10). And as they nailed Him to the cross shedding His blood with us in Him, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it on the cross” (Col. 2 :14). By His blood, “He redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree” (Gal. 3 :13).

What a love – revealed all the way to Calvary and at Calvary, He paid it all for us.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! Thank you for your love and giving your Son for me.
