TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Heb. 4-6
TEXT: And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30:6.
In continuation from yesterday’s devotional, the fourth thing that happens to you when you are discouraged is that You drive away your destiny-Helpers.
In life, there are two major kinds of helpers and these helpers are ahead of you in one capacity or the other. There are also helpers who follow you and help you in your God-given assignment. Listen; true helpers come to encourage men who encourage themselves. David almost lost the men who had left all to follow him when he allowed discouragement. But thank God, he encouraged himself in the Lord.
To fight discouragement, you must encourage yourself in the Lord, Encouragement, begins with you. Until you take deliberate steps to encourage yourself in the Lord, encouragement may not ever come from without. When David encouraged himself in the Lord, the people returned and they pursued and recovered all. Our hope is in the Lord, He is the God of our Salvation, the very reason for our existence. He owns our today, tomorrow and future.
So to remain in faith, we must of necessity encourage ourselves in the Lord, then we can proceed to encourage others in our spheres of contact.
Child of God, you are the Victor and not the victim. Christ in you, is the hope of glory. You have all it takes to make it, so cast out that spirit of discouragement and press on to your destiny.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I encourage myself in the Lord and move on, in Jesus name.
