At the Root of it All

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 44-45
TEXT: “And satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.” 1 Chronicles 21:1
MESSAGE: There is an enemy against the church and the children of God. Behind that affliction, the problem, that failure, that set back is a major enemy. If can recognize him and handle him as God counsels, you have handled that problem from the root.
Mr. satan, the devil, is the major enemy of the church. He is at root of all the calamities befalling the righteous. In his subtle nature, he stays behind the scene and manipulates even believers against themselves. Most times, he uses his agents to perpetrate his acts of wickedness and such agents can be close to you. That is why any believer who wants to remain a victor always should be at alert and always resists the devil. Scripture says, “… Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7.
Just imagine, how could king David, a man who was always making enquiry from God on what to do per time, fall victim of the manipulation of the devil? Despite all the warnings of Jacob, he went ahead to number Israel because he was under the influence of the devil. From our anchor scripture you will discover that the target of satan was Israel, but his tool of getting at them was King David, the very person who was supposed to watch out for them. Unknown to David, he thought he was acting right, but his counsel brought great plague on Israel. Seventy thousand men lost their lives, yet an angel was still sent by God to destroy Jerusalem and as he carried on his mission, God repented and shewed mercy and said to the angel, “It is enough”. 1 Chron. 21:14-15.
Child of God, you must be very wise by the Spirit of the Lord to pick out the devil, so you do not become an enemy of yourself or become a victim of the manipulation of the devil on others.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I resist the devil, I will not be a victim of satanic manipulations.
