Don’t Be A Number!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Micah 1-2
TEXT: “Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.” – Daniel 1 :18 – 19.
In whatever thing you are part of in life and destiny, as a redeemed child of God, a worshipper of God in His house of faith, a worker in an organization etc, do not settle to just being a number. You must aspire to stand out by making a difference. When you make an impact, you move from being a number to a significant member which cannot but be without mentioned.
In the preceding passage of our anchor text, there were several persons selected of the children of Isreal, and of the king’s seed and of the princes; children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured and skillful in all wisdom and cunning in knowledge… Everyone of them had these qualities which made them to be among the numbers selected.
Each one of them is a number in the group and at the same level of assessment so long as the qualities mentioned were general qualities. To standout therefore, there must be a deliberate, conscious, or intentional effort to go the extra mile in one’s input and commitment to certain definite principles.
The other persons selected were satisfied to just be a number, but four children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names Belteshazzar for Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego for the three others, stood out because of impact and left their footprints on the sands of time. Their names did not only rang a bell in their days but still does from generation to generation.
What is that principle that will bring you out from being just a number? Be ready to give yourself to it if you want to stand out.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I refuse to be a number, grace to stand out, rest on me.
