On the Way to Canaan

TEXT: “And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.” – Exodus 12 :37 – 38.

Canaan is not a location but a destination of a point of fulfillment in God. As you therefore journey to your Canaan, it is of great importance that you arm yourself with some vital knowledge from the experience of the Israelites who first journeyed to the physical Canaan so as to avoid their errors and build upon their strength.

The first thing to know as you journey, is that a mixed multitude may join themselves to you and journey with you. These group of persons have no definite purpose and goals for themselves where they were and since they see your journey as a venture, may decide to go along with you.
The children of Israel journeyed with this mixed multitude who joined themselves with them and from what began to unfold on their journey, you can tell the sorts of persons they were. The children of Israel who suffered greatly in Egypt, kept making reference to Egypt at every point of challenge. It is quite ironic.
I believe such attitude started from the mixed multitude in their midst, who later influenced them. They did not go through the pains the children of Israel went through in Egypt, they only went along with them.
Also, they influenced a wrong worship on them. How can a people whom God brought out with great deliverance from Egypt, all of a sudden asked Aaron to make them a golden calf because Moses delayed from coming down from the mountain? Exod. 32 : 1 – 8;
May God separate you from the, mixed multitude.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! Deliver me from wrong persons.
