TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: 2 Thess. 1-3
TEXT: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. – Matthew 5 :8.
OFM Rhema for Living Daily Devotional 11th March 2021
Purity is what is needed to ascend to the throne of God in order to see Him. Psalms 24 :3-5, says, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in His Holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor swore deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation”.
The vast majority of believers hold the word, Pure as a moral standard that is unattainable. Jesus was speaking of a key to seeing God and I believe He told us this because it is attainable.
To be pure means to be without blemish. Take gold for an example – when gold has been truly purified, it has had all the other elements removed from it. This process causes all the dross and impurities to come to the surface so it can be skimmed away.
At the end, it leaves only gold as a single element. Likewise, our hearts are cluttered with the dross of life, and we must remove all the distractions so we an focus wholly on God.
If we are to see God, then the one element our heart must contain, must be purity.
PRAYER.
My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray now, take away every impurity in my life and help me to keep my focus on you alone, in Jesus name.
