Mountain Top Life (MFM Devotional 10 March 2024) MESSAGE:
Mothers are purpose partners with fathers and God in the work of parenting. They are to point children toward Christ by praying for them, be a model to their children in faith and character and training them in wisdom. They are to model godly living for their children and take care of their home. They are also to care for and help their husbands.
The Bible recognises Mother’s Day and consistently asks believers to honour and love their mothers. Exodus 20:12 says, “Honour your father and your mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” Mother’s Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express, respect, honour and show love towards mothers.
The day is an event to honour the contribution of mothers to humanity and acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society. Proverbs 31 paints a picture of who a mother is. She is a compassionate woman who helps the less fortunate and meets the needs of those that are struggling. She also plans ahead.
God created mothers as an extension of Himself. They work round the clock without complaints to keep their children and wards happy. Mothers are not paid salaries or allowance for the work they do. They are created to carry out the job no one else can do. We have different kinds of mothers but the godly ones are special gifts and blessings to mankind. They are also generous. They are more precious than gold and they are irreplaceable.
Beloved, today is set aside to honour and celebrate mothers all over the world. Everyone has a mother. So, thank and celebrate yours today by appreciating her in word and action, like showering her with gifts. Fathers too should celebrate their wives as godly mothers. On your part, as a mother, it is time to review your performance in playing your roles. Have you truly met God’s expectations? Identify the areas you need to do more to be an excellent mother and go ahead to better your performance. Are you a mother to be? Pray for more grace and strength to succeed for mothers all over the world. Soon, you will be a mother too. Happy mother’s day!
