TOPIC: Biblical Reward of Giving (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 9 September 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 6-7; 2 Corinthians 2

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 11:24-31

MEMORY VERSE: “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.” -Proverbs 22:9

MESSAGE: Many believers are yet to come to terms with the spiritual significance of giving. They do not know that they are poor because they are stingy. Some think that giving will make them lose what they have or reduce their resources but the truth and mystery is that giving makes you get more and hoarding makes what you have to reduce. That is why we all need to learn more about the mystery and power of giving.

Giving is an act of spiritual investment. It is the gateway to kingdom abundance. It is the key that opens the door of plenty and great financial supply. It is the power that keeps the waster, devourer, emptier and desolator at bay. In your Christian journey, when you mature to the level where giving becomes a delight to you, you have really grown.

Your giving represents laying up your heavenly account (Matthew 6:9; Philippians 4:15-17). Your giving should be with faith because the law of giving operates principally on the platform of faith. When you give liberally to God, you own account with God which no economy of any country can adversely affect (1 Timothy 6:17). Your giving will always yield both material dividend and heavenly blessing. It will deliver dividends that covers all your needs. Your giving is investing into your destiny.

I am a living testimony of the great things that giving can do in the life of a Christian. I was instructed by my father to give my first salary to a particular man of God (my pastor at that time). After explaining the purpose of my visit to the man of God, he accepted that first salary of mine and prayed for me from the bottom of his heart. The prayer the man of God offered that day is still working in my life till today.

Similarly, the Bible is replete with instances of people who gave generously and received great rewards. The woman of Shunem gave accommodation, food, water and hospitality to Elisha and his servant. Her barreness was terminated and she became a joyous mother by the prophetic utterance of Elisha. When disaster later struck and the boy died, the woman went to Elisha who followed her and raised the dead child to life (2 Kings 4:8-17, 18-37).

Similarly Abraham entertained divine visitors and his age-long expectation (Isaac) became a reality. His giving provoked heaven to suspend the law of nature for him and his wife and he got a miracle child. It was giving that saved Rahab and her household from the doom and destruction that befell the people of Jericho (Joshua 2:1-20, 6:25).

Giving was the spiritual key that ensured that the generous Dorcas was raised to life by Peter (Acts 9:36-42). The people she had shown generosity and helped sought and begged Apostle Peter to raise her to life. God remembered the alms (giving) of Cornelius and he earned salvation as well as the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:1-6, 44-45).

The woman of Zarephath and her son lived long and in regular supply of meals during the famine because she gave her last meal to Elijah. Even when the enemy attacked the son and he died, Elijah raised him back to life. Her giving paved way for these divine rewards (1 Kings 17:22). Beloved, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Obey Him in all areas of giving (offering, first fruit, payment of tithe, etc) and you will be abundantly blessed
