BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Daniel 8-10; 3 John

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:1-2

MEMORY VERSE: “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” – 1 John 3:7

MESSAGE: Pat Williams, in “The Paradox of Power: A Transformational View of Leadership” encourages everyone to develop leadership character by using Jesus Christ as his role model or yardstick. I agree with him. The character of Jesus is the standard by which you and I must measure ourselves as leaders or train ourselves to become successful leaders.

Beloved, you must build Jesus’ character qualities into your life by putting your selfish impulses to death. A person who dies to self will gain his or her own soul and will be a leader of character. What were the character qualities Jesus exhibited as a leader two thousand years ago? Here are some of them:

First, Jesus had the quality of absolute integrity. This is a virtue we should emulate. The character of integrity exhibits the obedience and practice of the moral code of ethics, morals, values and precepts from God’s Word. In practice, integrity will produce honour, truth, and reliability. It will allow one to keep his or her word and do the best even when no one else is aware. Jesus calls us to integrity, which means we are to be true to our word as a testimony to our faith in Him.

We are not to be worldly with our words or the veracity of our virtue and character. Everything we do as a child of God must be in integrity, truthfulness, and honesty, as we are representing Him who is living in us! Consistent integrity is essential for the person who claims Christ as Lord of his or her life!

Hypocrisy, Dishonesty, Duplicity, and Corruption are the opposites of God’s call! When we carry out these evil traits or do not keep our word, we are misrepresenting Christ’s good name and are defiling Him with our feeble words and/or excuses. Hypocrisy gives people a false impression of God and His Church! Insincerity gives people a false impression of who we are called to be; it nullifies integrity and character!

Second, Jesus had the quality of absolute honesty. The word honesty means truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness. Another definition is freedom from deceit or fraud. A third definition of honesty is integrity. In 1 Peter 2:22, the Bible reveals that Jesus did no sin, neither was any guile or deceit found in His mouth. Jesus was honesty personified. We should emulate this virtuous character of His.

Trust is bred by honesty. Those who have a reputation for lying or exaggerating many times can’t get someone to believe them on their word alone. A Christian should never be like that. If you are always honest, others will believe you when you simply say yes or no. Jesus was absolutely honest, you should be honest too. He said He would be arrested and killed and that He would rise the third day and He did. He fulfilled all His promises to His Father and to mankind.

Beloved, you have a lot to learn and imitate about the outstanding character of Jesus. The Bible enjoins you to be an imitator of God. One of the best things to imitate is Christ’s character. Doing so will make your life meaningful and worthwhile. It will also set you apart in this corrupt world as it sets Jesus and his disciples apart in the Bible. When you succeed in imbibing the character of Jesus, you will be a shining light in this corrupt and dark world.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Every problem is a character building opportunity.

PROPHETIC WORD:
THE LORD WILL PERFECT YOUR CHARACTER AND MAKE YOU AN EXEMPLARY CHRISTIAN.

PRAYER POINTS:

1 I receive the grace to always do what is right in the eyes of God and in the eyes of man, in the name of Jesus.

2 I will stay in the path of truth at all times, in the name of Jesus.

3 Father, make me a great imitator of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4 Father, make me a man/woman of good report, in the name of Jesus.

5 Guile or deceit shall not be found in my mouth, in the name of Jesus.

6 Hypocrisy, dishonesty, duplicity and corruption, I am not your candidate, die, in the name of Jesus.
