TOPIC: Becoming Like Christ (II)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Amos 4-6; Revelation 7

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Galatians 5:22-25

MEMORY VERSE: “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” – Galatians 6:8

MESSAGE: We established yesterday, that one important expectation heaven has for your life is to become like Christ. You must endeavour to meet this responsibility. You were also shown some of the steps to take in order to become like Christ. We shall examine more of those steps today.

You must have the fruit of the Spirit. As a matter of necessity, you should deliberately set time aside to be alone with God and pray the nine fruit of the Spirit into manifestation in your life. When these nine fruit of the Spirit become functional and operational in your life, everyone will know and attest that Christ is at work in you and through you. When the Bible mentioned the nine fruit, it added, “… against such there is no law.” It means that with these nine fruit at work in your life, the enemy may come but will find nothing to accuse you of in you. That was Jesus’ testimony and it should be yours as well.

Another step you should take in order to be like Christ is to set yourself apart for His work. Jesus said, “I will do the work of my Father while it is day, the night cometh when no one can work.” During His earthly ministry, He also told His disciples that His meat was to do the will of His Father who sent Him. By this, He meant that His preoccupation was to do the work the Father sent Him to accomplish on earth (the redemption of mankind).

If you are one of those Christians who only go to church on Sundays but have nothing they are contributing to the kingdom and household of God, you cannot become like Christ like that. Become God’s purpose partner. Discover His purpose for you in Christ and commit yourself wholeheartedly to fulfilling it. Jesus said for this cause was I born and for this purpose came I into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth.

You must ensure that in working for God, what you do is in line with His purpose for your life. If you do not know, ask Him and He will direct your path.

Also to become like Christ, you must observe righteous living and godly conduct in and out of Church. God was very angry with David about his misconduct with Bathsheba because he gave the unbelievers an occasion to blaspheme the name of God.

The lesson here is that you must ensure that God’s name is hallowed all the time through your conduct as a Christian. Finally, you must endure temptation and manifest the fullness of God. Jesus, our best example, endured and overcame temptation before He could reach His goal. I pray that God will give you the grace to endure and overcome temptation as well in Jesus’ name.

In James 1:12, the Bible affirms that a great reward awaits believers who endure temptation, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” I pray that the grace to become like Christ and reflect Him gloriously to the world will be yours from today, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Christlikeness is your destination, but your journey will last a lifetime.

PROPHETIC WORD:
FROM NOW, BECOMING LIKE CHRIST WILL BE EASY AND ACHIEVABLE FOR YOU.

PRAYER POINTS:

1 Father, let the nine fruit of the Spirit become manifest, work in me and through me, in the name of Jesus.

2 Father, make me a perfect example of a Christian and disciple of Jesus Christ, in the name of Jesus.

3 Father, take my life, time and all resources and let them be consecrated to You in service, in the name of Jesus.
