What is laziness? Laziness is unwillingness to work. Anyone who does not like to work or make effort is described as a lazy person. A lazy father will not be able to provide for his household. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 5:8, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
The Scripture in the foregoing equates a lazy man that cannot take care of his family to an unbeliever. It means that that as a child of God, you are expected to be hardworking so that you can take good care of your family and others around you. It is the work of your hands that God will bless. If you want the blessing of God, you should be able to present something that He will bless. The Bible does not condone laziness rather it condemns it in all its ramifications.
When we take a close look at the Proverbs 31 woman, we can see that she works hard to fend for her family. To summarise her dedication to the wellbeing of her family, Proverbs 31:27-29 says, “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.”
Beloved, we have no excuse to fail in providing for our families because the Bible enjoins us to do so. And we have many examples in the Bible of those who ensured that they took very good care of their families in terms of meeting both their physical and spiritual needs.
A family of lazy people will be poor, enslaved and can never become great. In John 5:17, Jesus said, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” If our Lord Jesus Christ is working, what about you? Beloved, today’s memory verse offers food for thought to us all. I advise you to read and mediate on it, “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat” (Proverbs 13:4).

1. Every spirit of the tail operating in my family, die, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every curse of backwardness working in my family, break, in the name of Jesus.
3. Every spirit of laziness holding my family captive, die, in the name of Jesus.
πππππππ
4. Every yoke of indolence in my lineage, break by fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Every spirit of indifference to greatness in my family, die, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father Lord, bless the works of our hands in my family, in the name of Jesus.
7. In my family, we shall not labour in vain, in the name of Jesus.
