MFM Devotional 15th April 2025 (Tuesday) MESSAGE
Hatred has devastating consequences. Let us consider some of them to gain more understanding.
Hatred leads to destruction: Proverbs 10:12 says, βHatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.β Hatred acts as a catalyst for discord, tearing apart relationships, communities, and nations. When we allow hatred to spread within us, it consumes our thoughts and actions and leads us to destruction and despair.
Hatred breeds darkness: In 1 John 2:9, the Bible states clearly that anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in darkness. Hatred blinds us to the truth, keeps us in darkness, and distances us from the light of Godβs love.
When we harbour hatred, we separate ourselves from God and His presence. We know that Godβs absence is spiritual darkness. So, hatred can plunge you into darkness.
Hatred harms the hater: Jesus Himself teaches us in Matthew 5:44 to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. By harbouring hatred in our hearts, we not only harm those whom we hate but also inflict wounds upon ourselves. Hatred poisons our minds with bitterness and resentment and robs us of inner peace and joy.
Hatred contradicts Godβs commandment: In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus affirms the greatest commandment, saying, βLove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mindβ¦ Love your neighbour as yourself.β Hatred directly contradicts this basic commandment, undermining the very essence of our faith. When we choose to hate, we turn away from Godβs perfect love and walk in the sin of disobedience.
Dearly beloved, we must ensure that we uproot hatred from our hearts and embrace the transformative power of love, following the example of Christ who loved us unconditionally, even unto death.
PRAYER POINTS:
