MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 9 JUNE 2024 MESSAGE:
Profiteering is the practice of making or seeking to make an excessive or unfair profit, especially illegally. It is the act of taking advantage of a situation to make unreasonable profit on the sale of essential goods, especially during times of emergency.
Is it wrong to make profit as Christians? The answer is NO. We are encouraged even by Jesus in the Parable of the Talent, in Luke 19:13-24, to work and make profit. God is not against making legitimate profit for He is the one that teaches us to make profit.
As a matter of fact, good profitability is required for any business to survive and thrive. Profit is the reward of every labour. “In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury”. (Proverbs 14:23).
Profit-making is an incentive to encourage more entrepreneurs to continue to invest in adding value to lives and we need the rise of more Christian entrepreneurs to help add value to the kingdom and the world at large.
However, in a bid to make profit and get wealthy, we must not go the way of the world—the way of profiteering.
God is against making unjust profit at the expense of people. He even issued a curse on those involved in it to tell us how severely He hates the act. “Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work” (Jeremiah 22:13). When we engage in this act, what are we preaching to unbelievers?
Something happened in Nigeria recently. There was fuel subsidy removal. Immediately it was announced, 99.9% of fuel stations started selling at exorbitant prices. Surprisingly amidst all these, a particular fuel station was selling at a moderate price.
When the owners were interviewed, they said they still had old stock and so being old stock, had to be sold at normal price. Even prior to this time, this particular company has a public review that they usually sell their products at moderate prices. They never took an undue advantage of any emergency situation to make unjust money. This is an example of believers not just in word but in practice and in deed. May we not derail because of money, in Jesus’ name.

1. Spirit of mammon, on assignment to derail me, die out of me, in the name of Jesus.
2. I shall not serve money; money shall serve me, in the name of Jesus.
3. Worldliness and world systems, lose your grip on my life, in the name of Jesus.

4. I shall not labour in vain, in the name of Jesus.
5. Powers scattering what I am gathering, your time is up, die, in the name of Jesus.
6. Profitless hard work, my handiwork is not your candidate, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. Arrows of poverty, fired against me, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
