God has done His own duty through the redemption of man. The redeemed man or woman (a Christian) also owes God the duty to grow into the image of Christ (Hebrews 9:14). From our Fire Scripture for today (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14), the conclusion of the preacher is that the whole duty of a man is to fear God and obey his commandment. Solomon was an anointed king of Israel, a prophet of God. He was anointed by God to rule over Israel. He can be described as that man that saw it all and had it all. He had fame, prosperity, power, riches, wisdom, yet he died an unfulfilled man. He discovered later in his life that the whole essence of living is to fear God and obey his commandment; hence his counsel in our text. To fear God means to reverence Him, to love Him, to have faith in Him and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to keep His commandments and be obedient to His will. This is the only thing that can make a man whole and perfect. Without the fear of God, man is nothing. Every child of God is chosen and called to follow Christ. We have been given all we need for life and godliness and have access to the riches of His grace. However, if the foundation of your life is not laid on the fear of God and obedience to His word, your life will become futile and your fellowship with God will not stand. All the material possessions, intelligence, popularity or fame you have will be meaningless. The only thing that can give you fulfilment in this life and the life hereafter is to fear God and obey His commands. It would amount to sin if we fail to follow God’s word which is a revealer of God’s mind to us as recorded in Micah 6:8. Doing His will equals to reverencing Him, because you cannot obey and reverence who you have no regards for. There is assurance of eternal life, strong confidence and divine security (Prov. 14:26-27). What could be richer than abundant life! May God humble our hearts to fulfil this one but all-encompassing duty to fear God! However, no man can fear God except by the help of the Holy Spirit. If you are not yet born again, surrender your heart today so that you can receive the presence of the Holy Spirit who alone can give you the grace and power to do so. Motivational Quote: The fear of God is an antidote to a life of futility and vanity. Prophetic Word: Receive the fear of God that makes the difference in a man’s life, in the name of Jesus. HYMN: The Comforter Has Come 1. O Spread the tidings ’round, Where ever man is found, Where ever human hearts And human woes abound; Let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound; The Comforter has come! Chorus Holy Ghost from Heav’n, The father’s promise giv’n; O spread the tidings round, wherever man is found The comforter has come 2. The long, long night is past, The morning breaks at last, And hushed the dreadful wail And fury of the blast, As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast! The Comforter has come! 3. Lo, the great King of kings, With healing in His wings, To ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings; And thro’ the vacant cells the song of triumph rings; The Comforter has come! PRAYER POINTS: MORNING 1. Father, teach me to walk in Your fear, in the name of Jesus. 2. Let the fear of God be the foundation of my decision in life, in the name of Jesus. 3. Father, help to yield myself as a servant to obey Your word, in the name of Jesus. EVENING: 4. My Father, let the Spirit of fear of God be activated in my life afresh, in the name of Jesus. 5. Lord, let every part of my being come in subj e c tion to the obedience of God, in the name of Jesus. 6. My Father, reveal to me any area of my life where my obedience is yet to be complete, in the name of Jesus. 7. Father, grant me the courage to obey You, no matter how difficult, in the name of Jesus. Fire Scripture
1 John 2:15 – 17

MFM Daily Devotional 21 May 2021 Outline

The term “world” (Greek cosmos), as it is used throughout the New Testament, often refers to the vast world system that exists independent of God (i.e. going its own way without regard for God), and basically opposed to God.

It is how things in the world have operated ever since the first humans gave in to satan’s temptation, disobeyed God and brought the curse of sin upon all of creation. Because man defied God, human kind lost the authority over creation that God had originally delegated to them. (Gen. 1:26 – 30, Gen. 2:15, 19-20).

By this, satan seized control and began to dominate man’s endeavours as well as his ideas and efforts with his evil purposes (John 12 : 31, 14:30). Beloved of the Lord, the world as it is presently is characterised not only by wicked, immoral and selfish lifestyles, but also by a spirit of rebellion, indifference and nonchalance.

That is, lack of interest, concern for the things of God, God’s revelation, and unresponsiveness. Majority have refused to submit to Christ’s leadership and authority. In the Fire Scripture for today, that is why we are being warned about the love of the world or the things in the world. They have no eternal values, because all that is in the world will go with the world.

They will be forgotten and will bring little or no reward to add value to your journey to eternity. 1 John 2:17b, the Bible says, “…but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” Therefore, beloved of the Lord, to escape the snare of the world, you must do the will of God.

You must love what He loves and hate what He hates with perfect hatred. There is no one that can serve two masters and succeed. You will love one and hate the other. You have the choice to make so that you can also be in eternity with God.

The world is a form of spiritual adultery and unfaithfulness that defiles our relationship with God and leads to spiritual destruction.

Memory verse
John 16:33 – “This things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

Motivational Quote
To escape the snare of the flesh, flee from all appearance of evil

Prophetic Word
Any power that is on assignment to tie you down to the world system shall fail woefully, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN
O Jesus, I have promised

  1. O Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou forever near me,
    My Master and my Friend:
    I shall not fear the battle
    If Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway
    If Thou wilt be my guide.

  2. O let me feel Thee near me,
    The world is ever near;
    I see the sights that dazzle,
    The tempting sounds I hear:
    My foes are ever near me,
    Around me and within;
    But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
    And shield my soul from sin.

  3. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
    To all who follow Thee,
    That where Thou art in glory,
    There shall Thy servant be;
    And, Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    O give me grace to follow,
    My Master and my Friend.
