FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 4:12-18

12Β And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.

13Β And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

14Β And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which theΒ LordΒ hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not theΒ LordΒ gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

15Β And theΒ LordΒ discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

16Β But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

17Β Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.

18Β And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.

MFM Daily Devotional 21 March 2026 | MESSAGE

The Israelites were going to fight against the Canaanites who had oppressed them for twenty years. The Canaanites had nine hundred chariots of iron while Israel had barely enough men. The Lord had instructed Barak through Deborah the prophetess to lead the army of Israel and He had also told him that the glory would go to a woman. The Canaanite army was thoroughly defeated and their commander, Sisera, had to run away on foot. As Sisera ran, Jael came out to invite him into her tent.

The first lesson we learn from Jael is boldness. She was bold enough to invite Sisera into her tent even though she could have been accused of adultery for inviting a man into her tent. Jael knew that i she must fulfil God’s purpose, she must take the first step. There was no way she could have successfully fought with Sisera on the road. She decided to use a better weapon and she succeeded. Sisera took up her offer, thus, successfully setting her plan into motion.

As children of God, we are instructed to be bold as lions and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). In this world, we are surrounded by enemies who are like Sisera and the Canaanite army. They have chariots of iron; they are well equipped to trouble the people of God. However, we should not be afraid because the One Who lives inside of us is greater (1 John 4:4). When we are faced with challenging situations, we should not be afraid.

The Lord our God has promised to neither leave us nor forsake us so we have no reason to be afraid. Are you harassed by challenges of life? Rise up boldly today and speak the words of authority and victory. It’s time to rise and oppress all who have been oppressing the people of God. No more hiding away, no more fear of the agents of darkness. It’s time to face them head on and defeat them in combat by reason of the finished works of Christ.
