BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 27–29; Luke 13:1–22
FIRE SCRIPTURE: John 19:28-30 (KJV)
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

MFM MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE MESSAGE:
As we continue the topic, “It Is Finished” today, let us answer some questions here. What did Jesus come to accomplish? What was finished? What was His mission that is now finished? Why did Jesus come? The bible provides some answers: “to preach the Gospel to the poor” (Luke 4:18). John 10:10b says that He came to bring life more abundantly. 1 John 3:8b says that He came to testify to the truth (John 18-37) In Luke 12:49 says that He came to send fire on earth. If we look at all these, they helped to achieve the ultimate purpose to save us from our sins. Our memory verse says…….. “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Beloved, for you to accomplish God’s assignment and purpose for your life, you must be willing to suffer persecution, humiliation, rejection, betrayal and endure other painful experiences as Jesus did. He paid a huge price, even with His precious life, to save you and me, and to please His Father. He is our best example and role model! Jesus had a very clear view of what He was going into. He knew what was coming to Him and He was fully ready. He used two metaphors: “To drink the cup,” to partake fully of an event, and “to be baptized,” to be immersed fully in the event.
The cross in all its horror – and in His redemptive power to bear the sins of the world. hung heavily on Jesus during the last day of His life in the flesh. His struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane was the climax, the point at which He surrendered ultimately to the Father’s will. And now the cup had been drunk, the baptism completed. It is finished.
Jesus was willing to suffer to achieve God’s purpose, we too must be willing like Jesus to suffer to achieve God’s purpose. We too must be willing, like Jesus, to suffer to achieve God’s purpose for our lives. We must follow Him in the good day and other days as well, we don’t give up just because things are difficult. We should be willing like Jesus to suffer whatever is necessary to complete the Father’s plan for our lives.
