MFM Daily Devotional 12 September 2020 – Persistent Prayer by Pastor D.K Olukoya

TOPIC: PERSISTENT PRAYER

Fire Scripture: Daniel 10:8-15

8 So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless. 9 Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.

10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.

12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”

15 While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.

Memory Verse: Revelation 1:17“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:”

The weapon of persistent prayer produces outstanding results. This is the type of prayer that Daniel prayed for 21 days on a particular issue. He refused to give up until he received an answer. He just kept praying until after 21 days when the angel of the Lord came to him and said: “Daniel, since the first day, the Lord had answered but when I was bringing the reply, the prince of Persia met me and has been fighting with me.”

If Daniel had stopped praying, the angel would not have had enough power to come with answers to him.This incident in the Bible shows that there are three heavens. There is the heaven which we call the sky or firmament, where we see the sun, the moon, etc.

The second heaven is where evil spirits reside. Remember, the Bible talks about spiritual wickedness in high places. This is the headquarters of principalities and powers. Then, there is the third heaven, the throne of God. Prayer becomes hard sometimes, because it has to pass through the first and second heavens, before it gets to the third heaven.

Evil forces try their best to prevent it from passing through to the third heaven. It must struggle to get there before the expected miracle can happen. To obtain an answer to your prayer the prayer has to reach the third heaven. Hence, the need for persistent and persevering prayers.

There is praying in the Spirit and praying with understanding. When you are praying with understanding, you do it with your brain, your mind and your intelligence. You are limited by your vocabulary or your knowledge.But, if you in the spirit, you connect to the power that brings confusion into the camp of the devil.

If you cannot pray in the spirit, you need to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You must therefore covet it, until you are so baptised.

Motivational Quote: Life has no duplicate.

Prophetic Word: Every fire that the enemy cannot cope with, let that fire envelope you now, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: The King Of Love My Shepherd

The king of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his
And he is mine for ever.

Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul he leadeth,
And where the verdant pastures grow
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love he sought me,
And on his shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
And O what transport of delight
From thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never:
Good shepherd, may I sing thy praise
Within thy house for ever.

2. Every covenant tying me down with mobile serpents, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
