Joni And Friends 4th March 2024 Devotional Message

Joni and Friends 4th March 2024 Devotional Monday Message. As you study today’s devotional, remember this; “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)

TOPIC: Who Hurts the Most?

“If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:7

A father warns his child time and again to stay away from those containers underneath the sink. But one day Dad walks into the kitchen and sees his little boy pale and unconscious on the floor. Somehow the boy managed to pry the lid off that old bottle of insecticide. The paramedics, after a few anxious minutes, revive the child. Yet in the coming days the tragedy continues to unfold. Doctors report that the boy will be permanently impaired. Although the child has no concept of what life could have been had he not disobeyed, his father will carry the pain of his son’s disobedience for the rest of his life.

Let’s apply this story to our relationship with God. Just who felt the deepest hurt back in the Garden of Eden? It’s true Adam and Eve suffered dreadfully for their disobedience, and it’s true their children suffered the consequences—they couldn’t begin to understand what might have been. We can’t understand, either. Blinded by our fallen nature, we have only the vaguest notion of what consequences our disobedience causes in our lives.

But God has complete understanding. He sees not only what is and will be but also what might have been. Scripture indicates that he feels anguish deeper than you and I can understand. He is the Father who carries the pain of our disobedience.

Fortunately, a miracle drug has been applied. Christ’s blood on the cross is an antidote for the awful impairment of sin. That’s what 1 John 1:7 tells us. We who have brought such pain to God can also bring joy, delight, and companionship as we accept his cure and walk with his Son.

Father God, strengthen me and enable me to walk with you, that I might delight your heart.
