Joel Osteen Devotional Sunday 9 March 2025 TOPIC: Drive Away the Negative Feelings
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24, NKJV
TODAY’S WORD
King David was facing all kinds of trouble. Armies were coming against him, people were slandering him, and even his own son was trying to take his throne. You can imagine how strong the negative feelings were—discouragement, anger, self-pity. When everything was saying, “Be depressed and sour,”

David woke up in the morning and said, “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” He wasn’t just being positive; he was telling his feelings, “You’re not going to rule me. You’re not going to determine my future.” Your will is more powerful than your feelings. You have to say to discouragement, “I will rejoice.” Say to the self-pity, “I will be glad today.”
Say to sadness, the blahs, to no passion, “You’re not going to control my life. I may feel you, but you’re not telling me the truth. You don’t dictate my future. I will live this day in faith. I will rejoice. I will be glad in it.” That’s how you rule your feelings and drive away the blahs, the discouragement, the discontentment.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that You have given me this day as a gift to live for You. Thank You that my mood is not dependent upon anyone else or upon my circumstances. I will live in faith, I will rejoice, I will be glad, and I will make the most of this day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
