Joel Osteen Devotional 29th January 2025 TOPIC: A Great Calm
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. – Mark 4:39, NLT
TODAY’S WORD
We all have dreams and promises from God we’re believing for. We start off excited. We’re sailing along fine, making progress, then a storm arises—an unexpected challenge, a sickness, a breakup, we lose a loved one, a contract we were counting on doesn’t go through.

It’s easy to get discouraged and think that it’s never going to happen. But God doesn’t promise something and then change His mind. He doesn’t put a dream in your heart and then take it back. What He starts, He finishes. You may not see a way, but God has ways we’ve never thought of. Storms come to us all. It might be your health, your marriage, your finances.
The good news is that God is in control of the winds. He’s in control of what’s trying to stop you. All He has to do is speak the word and calm the storm. Will you trust Him even though the winds are howling and you don’t see any sign of it improving? God is directing the winds, and He’s going to get you to where you’re supposed to be.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that the winds and waves that I face today cannot stop Your plan for my life. Thank You that my purpose is firmly and securely anchored in You. I believe and declare that the storms cannot defeat me and are pushing me into my destiny. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
