TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crops fails…yet will I rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! – Habakkuk 3:17–18, NLT
TODAY’S WORD
Have you noticed that some people in your life don’t want to be happy. They’re always in the pits, and at times being with them can feel like you’re in the pits. They expect you to cheer them up, fix their problems, and carry their loads. You have to have the attitude: “You may not want to be happy, but you’re not going to keep me from being joyful.
If you want to stay in the pits, that’s your choice, but I’m not getting in the pits with you.” You need to evaluate the people you’re spending time with and take responsibility for your own happiness. Don’t let their issues sour your life. You’re not responsible for their happiness. Be kind. Be compassionate. But run your own race. Pray for them, be respectful, but don’t become codependent.
Don’t let their problems become your problems. Take extra doses of praise, encouragement, and inspiration. Stay prayed up and filled up. Set some boundaries. Don’t let them keep you from your destiny. It’s time to break free and live the abundant life God has for you.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
“Father, thank You that You have called me to love and help others, but not to try to fix them or make them happy. Thank You that no matter what my circumstances look like, I can rejoice in You, knowing that You are the God of my salvation. I declare that I will remain free and joyful. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
