TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.”
Acts 4:29, NIV
TODAY’S WORD
In Acts 4, the religious authorities in Jerusalem tried to stop the apostles from proclaiming the gospel, seizing Peter and John and forbidding them to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. It could have been a moment of great fear for the early church, but Peter and John refused to shrink back. Rather than be intimidated, the church rose up in faith and was empowered to be bolder.
In life, there are defining moments when what happens tries to push you from living in peace to living in fear, from enjoying your life to worrying through life. When these moments come, you could shrink back in fear, but, no, this is the time to step up and declare, “I will not fear, for my God is stronger and greater. God being for me is more than the world being against me.” This is the time to hold fast to what the enemy tries to steal, to stir up your faith and move forward, to renew your dedication to serve God and be the person He created you to be.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that because I am Your child, I can stay in peace when I am tempted to be afraid. Thank You that I can press forward and take new ground, stretch my faith, believe for bigger things, and expect Your favor in greater ways. Empower me to be bolder. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
