TODAY’S WORD
Because of God’s favor on Joseph’s life, his older brothers became extremely jealous of him. This was true for many heroes of the faith, and it’s true for us as well. Because of God’s blessing on your life, some people can’t handle your success. They were fine until you got the promotion, until your business took off, or as long as you were single. They had no problem until you started making a difference and your light started shining brightly. When God blesses you in a greater way, it can stir up envy and jealousy, criticism, fault-finding, and trying to make you look bad.
This is not meant to discourage you but to prepare you. You have to be okay with others not being okay with you. You don’t need everyone to celebrate you. You don’t need all your coworkers or relatives to cheer you on. If you become too dependent on other people’s approval, you’ll waste your time trying to get their acceptance or vindicating yourself. You have all you need with God’s approval. Keep honoring Him, and He will take care of the naysayers.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that You’ve put Your blessing and favor on my life. Help me to remember that doesn’t mean everyone is going to cheer me on or not be critical. I believe that I am moving forward with Your approval and that’s all I need. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
