GoodNews Daily Devotional 10th August 2022 MESSAGE
When you were born again – that is to say, born from above – you became a part of the Church, the Body of Christ. That means more than simply being part of a congregation at a certain location. The word ‘church’ is translated from the Greek word ‘ekklēsia’.
Many preachers and teachers have taught that ekklēsia means the called-out ones, but that does not capture the full import of who you are. ‘Ekklēsia’ is a compound of the words ‘ek’ and ‘kaléē’. It refers to politicians who have been chosen to set the policies of a certain community. You are called out to be a political change agent. ‘Political’ simply refers to anything related to government or public affairs.
Now more than ever, we need more Bible-believing, Word-living Christians in seats of political power. But even if you are not interested in holding a political office in government, that does not diminish the grace that is upon your life to make and influence policy. Get involved with your local community organisations. Be an active member of your child’s school’s parent-teacher association. Your voice will be heard!
