DCLM Daily Manna – 30 December 2025 | MESSAGE
A devout king was upset by the ingratitude of his royal court, so he hosted a banquet for them. During the meal, a beggar entered, ate heartily, and left without a word. The guests were outraged and wanted to punish the beggar, but the king pointed out that they were equally ungrateful to God. He compared the guests’ actions of eating without acknowledging God to the beggar’s actions at his table. The story serves as a reminder to show gratitude and appreciation for the blessings we receive, whether from earthly kings or a higher power.
The Psalm under consideration provides five reasons to be thankful, with David referring to them as“ all his benefits. ”These include forgiveness of sins, healing of diseases, redemption from destruction, tender mercies, and satisfaction of souls with good things. It is easy to overlook the significance of salvation and forgiveness in our lives. Being alive, healthy, and having access to food, shelter, and freedom makes us among the most blessed in the world, as many lack these basic necessities.
God’s blessing of filling our mouths with good things is a great reason to be thankful. According to the United Nations report on world hunger, millions struggle to find food. Children are malnourished due to an acute shortage of food. The miracle of keeping us healthy in environments where the hospitals and treatment centres are full of the sick and wounded is another reason to praise the Lord. Highways, seaways, and airways are ever dangerous, and there are reports of accidents involving vehicles, planes, ships, and other transportation equipment. Considering that you have travelled these same routes where terrible accidents are reported without issues is enough reason to praise God.
We praise God for who He is and thank Him for what He is doing for us. Those who praise God find more reasons to give thanks because God keeps blessing them. Instead of focusing on new requests and petitioning God for daily needs, why not praise Him for the answers given through His mercy and grace? We need to give praise and thanks to our God always.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Thankfulness is a spontaneous application for more blessings.
